For anyone who has not yet heard, today at Blizzcon they announced the fifth expansion, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor. This expansion seems to be a lot different than previous ones mainly because it takes place in the past. For any die hard Warcraft fans prior to WoW, this could be extremely exciting. The Story *disclamer:This is all based upon pieces of Chris Metzen's reveal speech that I could find on the internet as well as other forums that I have been digging around. Do not take as absolute fact just yet Warlords of Draenor takes place on the orc homeworld of Draenor, which we have come to know as Outland, prior to the opening of the Dark Portal and other portals which ripped apart the world. Garrosh Hellscream has escaped his trial on Pandaria and has, with the assistance of a not-yet-revealed figure, traveled back in time to his homeworld of Draenor in an attempt to stop the orcs from drinking the fel blood and to unite the orcish tribes into the Iron Horde, a force capable of invading and destroying Azeroth. Garrosh has been said to be merely a story-advancing character and not a villian of this expansion. This mystery figure is attempting to open the Dark Portal in a manner that would connect this past Draenor with our present Azeroth. Heroes of the Horde and Alliance must venture into the past in order to fight the Iron Horde and save the present. Warcraft franchise fans will recognize many of the key figures that we will meet along the way: Ner'zhul, the original Lich King. Gul'dan, the orc shaman-turned-warlock and leader of the first Horde. Grommash Hellscream, father of Garrosh. Durotan, father of Thrall. And many others.. Features

If anyone has found any more/better information or that what I dug up isn't correct, please add. I'm sure I have missed something or there are better sources than what I have been going with.

I'm waiting till the end of the con for more comprehensive and concise coverage of the overall picture. Overall, so far I'm not particularly interested or impressed with what I'm hearing which is a first.

New content is new content at least. It seems a little underwhelming for an expansion although new character models is something I have been waiting for for quite some time now. I think this will be a short expansion, even moreso than MoP because there is talk that it's really just setting up for the one after it

Some new information about system changes was released today - this ranges from racial abilities to some overall class design changes. It's still fairly high level, but it's an interesting read. Here is the link.

Found a new article discussing healing in Warlords (link at the end). We're going to have proportionately bigger health pools with weaker heals. They want us spending more time at less then full health, but not at low health either, as a way to make healing more interesting. Additionally, there will be less insta-cast heal spells available to make healers feel the sting of movement penalties, trimming some excess heal spells from rotation due to cutting out high-efficiency/weak spells and a slight dumbing down of smart heals. As usual, some of these changes are driven by PvP concerns. This article goes into the whole thing as length.

As a tank with a healing background, these changes make me happy. One of the hardest things to figure out on my side is when healing needs help. Healing is really twitch due to the time it'll take me to go from full to dead, and I never know if a Greater Heal is .3 seconds away, or if it's time to use my Lay of Hands. This will slow down combat enough that I might actually get to ask "Do I need to pop cool downs?" before I die.

Warlords Alpha patch notes were released. Here is the link.
Scroll down to the Ability Pruning section and read from there, that's all the new stuff and a good amount of it. The Ability Pruning will list off several abilities being removed entirely or limited to specific specs. There's a second round of class changes even lower describing some of the reasons behind them. Tanks are losing Vengeance and getting more damage to their abilities instead. Vengeance is being replaced by new passive that boosts healing. Overall: there's some streamlining of rotations going on, removing some offensive cds, a confining of abilities to singular specs to make them feel different from the other specs in the same class.

With Warlords going into Alpha, people are able to data mine the game files for new things added to the game. Link is here.
There's a list of new/changed glyphs that is worth checking out. Some new vanity items, a book that will teach you pandaria flying pre-level 90 and is account-bound. An item that makes you immune to Priests being jerks and Leap of Faith'ing you at inopportune times. Professions: Alchemy - some new items called Metamorphic Crystals and Alchemical Catalysts (no idea what these even are yet) that are likely our new daily cd. The usual assortment of pots, flasks etc. Archeology - 3 new races to dig up. Herbalism, Skinning, Mining - Easier to level now that you can mine/skin etc all things regardless of your skill level, you'll just scraps and less if you're under level. Still, means no more doubling back to level professions. Herbalism also seems to be granting a unique buff for each flower type you pick. Miners may be able to share in Blacksmith's new daily cd. Mining looks to be getting 2 new ore, 1 common and 1 rare, but the emphasis is likely on refining the rare like with trillium. Blacksmith - new daily cd metal. Also some item that "hardens" chest armor and seems to up its ilvl. Cooking - a large assortment of new recipes, enough that we'll likely see the same branching system Pandaren cooking had. Enchanting - new enchant seem to only apply to non-armor slots: rings, necklace, cloak etc. The weapon enchants have names currently but descriptions are filler currently. Engineering - versatility seems to be the theme. New mailbox anyone can use. Some sort of spare part system perhaps to remove the need to track down older ones. Perhaps another daily cd of some sort. Fishing - what looks to be 2 dozen new fish types added, god only knows why but I don't think anything good will come of it. The rest of the information is extremely sparse currently, really just a list of names currently with no context or meaning.

More information on Garrisons: Link is here. Additional information on Garrisons here along with new Hunter Pet buff revisions: Link is here. You'll have 14 buildings for your Garrison: - 4 basic ones everyone gets to cover things like fishing, pets, herbalism and mining. The Inn, occupying a larger plot, will give access to cooking, and I don't see anything tied to First Aid or Archeology.
- 4 small plots to cover buildings tied to professions.
- 3 medium and 3 large plots - unclear what buildings fall into these categories.
Each plot has 3 levels of upgrading. Higher levels often unlock missions for your followers or passive bonuses for you, your garrison or your followers. For profession-based stuff the upgrade levels will allow you to not micromanage your Garrison everyday, but every 2-5 days (yay, less time commitment after the Half-Hill Farm).

More Warlords Alpha notes: link is here.Pretty sure the lag we're seeing currently is due to game instability from all the alpha builds being uploaded. Expect to see more of it. Only the first 2 sections reflect the latest updates which is a few class re-balances mostly aimed at DKs and healers. Blood DKs are getting poked under the hood right now moving around and removing abilities. Some more updates on healing, adding more dynamics to healer's mana regen. The idea is that healers will be rewarded by dpsing for a 2-4 secs to get some mana back in between their normal healing rotation. This supports the prior design idea that people will spend more time at less then full health, so they are making healers go oom easier if they don't play along with that idea.

Divine plea now cost three holy power to give us mana back with no cooldown? This removes all worries i had with mana concerns for Holy paladin, basically we have to decide if we are going to use our holy power for heals or for mana now. It'll be interesting to see how to get the holy power with the smallest amount of mana possible to make this viable. I had been wondering if the talent Holy avenger would lose some value now that the holy power healing spells had cast times since it would slow down the burst you can do with it, but now i see it as a way to get burst mana back since Divine plea has no cooldown and no cast time. Holy avenger>Holy shock>divine plea> Holy radiance> divine plea>repeat till buff ends.

Wowhead has a calculator for Garrisons to give you an idea of what you can do with the various plots. It's still a bit vague on specifics, but there's enough information to make fairly informed decisions: link here.
