Why, because it's summer and this is mandatory. I cannot claim credit for any of these 3 recipes, they were developed by friends of mine several years ago and I had to hound one of them for 5 years before he finally gave them up. I have gotten many rave reviews for the first two recipes here and I highly recommend trying them out.
BBQ Spice Rub
Ingredients:
¼ Cup (or less) Coarse Salt
- or use half Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
¼ Cup Dark Brown Sugar
¼ Cup Paprika
3 Tbl Pepper
1 Tbl Garlic Powder
1 Tbl Onion Powder
2 Tea Mustard Powder
1 Tbl Chili Powder
½ Tea Celery Seeds
½ Tea Allspice
For ribs, use liberally. For burgers and chicken, 1 Tbl per lb of meat.
BBQ Sauce II
Ingredients:
6 Tbl Dark Brown Sugar
½ Cup Cider Vinegar
¼ Cup Molasses
¼ Cup Honey
¼ Cup Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tbl Rum
2 Tbl Mustard
1 Tbl Liquid Smoke
1 Tbl Chili Powder
2 Tea Pepper
2 Tea Garlic Powder
1 Tea Allspice
¼ Tea Cloves
4 Cups Ketchup (32 oz Bottle)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except for the Ketchup in a pot and cook until dissolved. Add the Ketchup, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
This is a more kansas style bbq sauce that is a bit sweet and tangy.
