We are not done running Highmaul yet. We will be continuing to progress through Heroic Highmaul intermixed with Blackrock Foundry normal progression. The main reason for this is that the gear is effectively the same item level. This means there are best in slot pieces to be obtained from Highmaul still. Additionally, the benefit of continuing with Heroic Highmaul is that we already know all of the fights, there's no new mechanics to learn, just higher numbers to pull. Which means we can clear bosses faster then we would purely in Blackrock.
I was sure Blackrock Foundry was supposed to be wing-based as a raid, meaning we have options as to what we fight. But none of the guides I've been seeing reflect that, they all seem to reflect some linear progression which Blizz has said they don't want to do. I finally found something to confirm this - see this link - which also says we should not be attempting the Blast Furnace for a bit, but instead be dabbling in each wing for the easier fights. I'll try to keep an accurate list on the calendar events for what fights to be expecting and address it at the end of each raid session.
I ask all raiders to start drawing up a list of best in slot gear for themselves looking at the gear between Heroic Highmaul and Normal Blackrock Foundry. While we'll push to get progression kills where we can, I want to prioritize bosses that drop important loot and make sure we're getting the kills we need each week for that. This may be a split where we spend one night of raiding each week in each raid for a bit.
Additionally, it's time to start rounding out the gear we do have, let's get all items @ 655 and over. I see some people still rocking base 640 crafted or lfr pieces and in the rare instance a 630 piece of gear. If you have crafted gear, there's no reason for it not to be upgraded at this point where it is competitive and in many cases best in slot. Let me know what needs upgrading and I'll coordinate with guild crafters to ensure those pieces get upgraded.
