Guild Ranks
Initiate - New members start here with limited guild bank access and repair budget but with the ability to invite new members and able to create calendar events. When a member has proven themselves to be active and/or giving member of the community they advance to the next rank.
Member - Members who demonstrate they wish to be a part of the community by contributing and/or participating are granted more access to the bank and a higher allowance of gold for repairs/withdrawal.
Veteran - Long-time members (6 months or more) are granted this rank with greater bank and gold access.
Jr. Officer - Assists Officers in running events and organizes them in their absence. Has same powers and perks of Officer, just a separated title for organizational clarity.
Officer - Officer is not a rank or privilege or power but one of responsibility to the community. Members who have taken on social leadership roles in the community putting forth effort in creating or organizing events/activities will in time be offered this rank. Officers are guaranteed autonomy in how they run their event(s). As GMs and fellow officers, we feel it is our place to support the efforts of our officers by assisting with and promoting their events as well as coming up with helpful ideas when they struggle. Names of all officers will be made available in the guild's information tab with a listing of what activity they oversee so interested parties know who to go to. Officers have the ability to alter the guild's daily message in order to better communicate information to the community about their events or other miscellaneous things. Lastly, they are given a high amount of access to the guild bank and so members who wish to attain this rank will need to be patient as a bond of trust is formed before being given this rank.
Co-GM - a rank relegated for the Co-GM, their alts as well as the GM's alts to avoid needless toon hopping.
Earning Promotions
Promotions in the guild are largely earned through contributing to the community whether that be to individuals or to the guild bank. Contributions may be material in the form of gold or crafted items, resources etc, but also equally viable is time spent helping others achieve their personal goals such as leveling a toon, earning achievements etc. Participation in the community is highly valued like talking in g-chat, attending events, helping he guild complete weekly challenges. Initiative is an oft overlooked virtue, to take the next step in expressing a desire to pursue a goal and invite others to come with you - forming calendar events is much appreciated here. Members are not eligible for any promotion if they have first joined the forums.
Initiates are eligible for their first promotion after 4 weeks. Member can expect to wait 4-6 months before being considered for promotion to Veteran. Those seeking an Officer-ship have no real limits on how quickly the rank can be earned, but it is set by how much initiative they display in leading. Those eligible for promotion must have their name put forward by an Officer and will be voted upon. Officer meetings are held just before Guild Meetings where Promotions are announced.
The rank of officer is earned in 2 ways. The first is a de facto recognition of someone's efforts when they are already organizing and running an event. In these situations, we bring them onto staff so we can better support them and give them the credit they deserve. The 2nd way, and more common, is that the staff will approach someone who has become a visible participant in an event and has shown initiative ensuring things run smoothly when the event's coordinator is not available. In these cases, we are recognizing the person's talent and ask them to step up for the good of the guild and share those talents. Picks for officers, like all promotions, are discussed at officer meetings, where someone puts forth the candidate's name.
Demotions
The same behaviors that earn members higher ranks are the same criteria needed to maintain a rank. Excessive commitment is not required, but some effort is needed. The guild strives to give back to its members and those who do not give back create an unfair balance that sours the community over time. Members and Veterans who show such an imbalance over a period of months will be spoken to about this behavior. If the behavior persists or they remain inactive for an extended period where we cannot speak to them, a motion for demotion will be voted upon by the Officers at an Officer Meeting.
Inactive Members
Members who intend to become inactive for a period of time, such as a few months, are encouraged to give notice to the staff. We understand fully that events come up in life or that someone needs a break from game etc, we just like to be aware when a member of our community intends to be gone for awhile. Members who give us warning are marked as going on hiatus and not subject to penalties for their absence.
Members and Veterans who are inactive, without notice, for 4 or more months risk demotion.
Initiates who become inactive for 2 or more months risk expulsion from the guild. Having never proven themselves as active members of the community, these are often players who join a guild for convenience or for what it offers with no intention of joining a community or giving in to it.
