In the spirit of give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish he can feed himself - I'm starting this thread for people to share the websites they visit for information and upping their game. Below are the sites I use most. Please share the sites you use.
WoWHead - A great resources for troubleshooting or how-to's for quests and achievements with their helpful comments sections. This expansion they've focused a lot more on helpful articles and comprehensive guides to the games often overwhelming amounts of content and less obvious features. These guides are featured on the main page weekly before being sent over to the Community -> Guides section of the site. If you're into Transmog, they have a massive database of all gear in the game, where to find it, what the gear looks like (View in 3-d Option) and where to find identical looking pieces.
Ask Mr Robot - A site devoted to optimizing your character's gear using ever-evolving algorithims and new features. Simply load your character (refresh to update) from the wow armory and then hit Optimize. The site will identify the ideal enchantments, reforges and gems to attach to your character for the best output. The site has many options available for customizing that are worth looking into learning. It's also helpful for identifying and tracking down gear upgrades. It has several other features for premium membership that take things to a whole new level such as identifying the optimal valor expenditures and comparing gear. For the price of a movie ticket you get a year subscription to these services. If I weren't adamant about refusing to spend more on game then I do (slippery slope and all), I'd have that subscription.
Noxxic - Over the last 2 years has become the goto place on the web for researching how to play a class. The information is very abbreviated and serves best as a reference guide of appropriate stats, talent/glyph specs and rotations.
Icy Veins - Probably the most active wow community on the web right now. I use it almost exclusively for in-depth class guides on how to play a class with comprehensive explanations written by some of the best players in the world. Additionally, has excllent current raid guides that are in-depth and often have added videos. Active forums discuss in-depth class mechanics and optimizations.
MrRobot, Noxxic and Icy Veins have a shared community, so you won't find conflicting theorycraft between the sites that you'll need to compare.
These are some of the less commonly used sites I keep around for various reference:
Curse - THE go to spot for addons.
WowWiki - If you're into game lore, this is the place to go. Search any topics or character and you'll find a traditional wiki hyperlink layout that'll have you losing hours with all the reading you'll be able to do. I also used this site as a resource for looking up information on old raids listing off boss abilities and strategies - Search the raid name and on the info bar on the right-hand side you'll have hyperlinks to individual bosses. Lastly, if you're curious about PvP and don't understand the battlegrounds, this site has excellent guides to them explaining the underlying mechanics and successful strategies that have developed over the years.
Macros Explained - Yes, this is a sublink to WoWWiki, but the topic is important enough to merit its own entry. This gives a pretty good overview of understanding macros and how to create them for complete novices.
WoW Professions - The go to place for how to level any profession. For gather professions, it lays out the best zones to farm and paths to take to find nodes of resources. For craft professions, it features the most efficient/resource light way to level a craft profession and compiles a simple grocery list of all materials needed.
Crafter's Tome - A great reference catalog of all craft recipes in the game, sort-able with filters, that identifies where to find the recipes. Useful if you're a collector like I am.
