So, we're all getting a chance to toy with the new stuff. Thoughts so far?
Toybox looks really nice, I'll even start using it.
I'm not impressed with the pre-expansion event, this is some of the weakest quest writing I've seen in a long time. And I'm fully appreciating Blizz wanting us to quest without flying. Being able to fly to my objectives and because I'm geared, overpower everything, is really not fun at all. Also, the Quest POI tracker even highlights where specific items are, instead of shading an area blue. That actually bothered me. As much as I'd like to not stumble around trying to find stuff, telling me exactly where it is not fun at all. I may need to quest with that off from now on. Though good short-term upgrades for people gearing new toons.
Class changes. Yeah, I very quickly swapped back to Marksman. Survival has no burst and feels odd. It's multi-strike focused with no multi-strike stats in the game yet, bleh. Secondary stats seem much more powerful now. When re-examining gear for gems and enchants, it moved me almost entirely out of agility gems. Arms Warrior has Haste and Crit valued above Strength and that's just weird to me now. Any spec dependent on multi-strike and versatility are probably gonna take big hits to performance until the expansion comes out, so I'd suggest leniency in evaluating them.
Just ran UBRS, not bad. That arena fight is much the same as before. I know there was a guild group earlier that ran it, did you guys find the trash hard-hitting? My group wiped on a double pack of trash and I'm curious if it was just my group being weak or if the dungeon was tuned to be more challenging. I liked the first boss, I thought it was an interesting fight dynamic. The 2nd one just seemed tank-and-spank. And is it just me or does everyone get loot from the bosses instead of rolling?
I think I like the revised dungeon journal for Warlords, it distills the fight down to sections defined by role and how to react to each mechanic. I'd like to see both forms of the dungeon journal as an option though since I like seeing everything laid out, but I can certainly see the benefit in this streamlined approach. While you can make the accusation it is dumbing things down, most people didn't understand the stuff they were reading before anyway.
*Edit*
If you're going to play around with target dummies, be very wary. I worked on the raid dummy outside the shrine and could barely break 5k. I used a level 85 dummy in org and did 425k. I then used the dungeon dummy outside the shrine and got 10k. It seems the raid dummies are tuned to level 100 bosses now, and that we get massive damage bonuses against low level targets.
What kind of numbers are you guys able to get so far? I'm only getting about 9.8k on average with burst around 15k with marksman and about 8.7k avg and same burst on survival. Yet Bellex was telling me 12-20k was the new range.
I will maintain survival for a bit, I need to play with it more. I prefer it's rotation now since marksman's focus management is harder with all its abilities costing so much. I'm going to give survival the benefit of the doubt until I can see how multi-strike helps as that's it's main stat and it isn't there yet.
*Edit 2*
The weekly quest to buy bonus rolls is now repeatable, not weekly. However, it no longer awards gold. So you can't farm lesser charms and turn it into an abusive gold-making scheme...'cause I totally would've done that.
Check your tier 16 set bonuses, some of them have been changed. Hunter's abusive use of Rapid Fire is now gone, replaced with generic damage boost to abilities.
