Event Updates
Raid Team
- After the departure of our last raid leader, we've been looking for someone to fill the role, please welcome LightPenguin as our new Raid Leader.
- Light has said his vision for the team is to see more respect paid to its members who have put in the time and effort to build the team and its successes, see some decentralization of control away from the raid leader directing the flow of things in favor of more team cohesion, and aim to keep up the pace during raid nights so we can tackle as much as possible in the limited time we have. He'll speak on more of these things himself in the future.
- As Light isn't around often on Saturday nights, Ten will be primarily handling the Flex team. The Flex team will be focused on training up people who are not on the 10-man team with the hope of giving them a slot on it once we've progressed through Siege fully. The secondary aim is gearing. The long-term goal is to keep all of our raiders on a similar skill level so that we can maintain 1 raiding team in Warlords at Heroic level (current 10-man difficulty).
- 10-man progression has downed the first 7 bosses with them solidly on farm. We'll push forward before the month's end.
- Flex progression has been stuck on Garrosh and we'll likely be devoting a weekend to completing that before the month's end.
Challenge Modes
- An ongoing event going forward, being organized by LightPenguin and Bazz, currently held on Friday early evenings before raids.
- Suggest completing Proving Grounds on Silver before attempting due to harsh difficulty of the dungeon - expect to die a lot (fortunately no repair bill).
- We're close to getting a 2nd team running, so please sign up if you're interested. These are great practice if you want to get in to raiding, very demanding gameplay.
Old School Raids
- Firelands and Dragon Soul are still on farm for legendary weapons, but we may be taking a break from that as people are starting to get sick of them after 4 months. Flashbacks of Ulduar.
- We're adding an extra night for raiding, now adding ICC to the farming list - Tuesdays at 8:30 server - for anyone who wants to work towards Shadowmourne. There are additional prizes for obtaining this legendary that aren't soulbound, some of which will be raffled off as prizes for those who help with these runs. Each event you participate in is another chance to win.
- Herald of the Titans achievement - Deathmight is working with Manila to organize a group to earn these Feat of Strength. It requires a 10-man team of level 80s working within certain gear restrictions (see the PvE forums for details) to run the fight effectively at content. If you have questions or are interested, please talk to Deathmight or post on the forum thread.
World Boss Mounts
- Now an ongoing event organized by Manila being run on Sunday nights at 8:30 server and runs for about 45 minutes.
- We fly around Pandaria killing Oondasta -> Sha of Anger -> Galleon -> Nalak. Each of these bosses has a chance to drop a unique mount.
- We're thrilled with the level of success we've seen from the program this month. It's seen more success in the past month then in the past 4 months combined. Keep up the good work all of our volunteers and thank you for everything.
- We'll be holding a follow-up meeting with our volunteers in the coming week to get some feedback on the recent changes made and what we can do better or differently.
Workshops
- This is getting its own section now since we run 1 or 2 a month pretty consistently. You're getting 2 new workshops this month.
- Ten's Advanced Auction House Guide - My gold making workshop only scratched the surface of using the AH to make gold, but seeing as its one of the biggest ways to earn gold, it is getting its own workshop. I'll be covering a new market watch resource I've been learning recently, but also go over some basics for anyone not proficient with working the market to begin with. Event is set for Sunday the 9th after the World Boss Farming.
- Bazz's Keybinding Tutorial - WoW is a game played differently by every person, the trick is to be comfortable changing the settings and configuration until you find what works for you. The game conforms to you, not you to it. It is often the case you are not a bad player but aren't making the game fit your style. For those who don't use a mouse to enter commands like I do, you use the keyboard to do so, in which case this workshop is all about you. Bazz will walk you through the benefits of keybinding, what it means to you, how it can help and some suggestions on how to do it well. Strongly encourage all healers to attend as healing rather requires effective keybinding. Looking for this workshop in the coming week.
Roleplay
- Viv will be stepping down as Jr. Officer and B will be stepping up in his stead to help Mirannah run these event. Please welcome him into his new role.
- We'll be looking to focus on running personal plots in the coming few weeks and putting the metaplot on hold, giving people a chance to connect more with their characters.
Pet Battles
- We've seen this event struggle with attendance for most of its duration and getting tossed around in timeslot as well as complications real life impacting the officers. Our goal this month is to focus on attendance and see what we can do to make people want to attend this event.
- We'll be looking to open up the event to more people outside the guild in order to create more of a legitimate tournament feel instead of the same half dozen people battling each other.
- We've also considered throwing in some roleplay elements in to the event to create more of a Pokemon feel of the bond between trainer and pet.
- Safaris will continue as they have, but with an added focus on preparing people for the actual tournaments, discussing team make up and strategies to help you get more competitive.
- We'll be soliciting feedback from people through the forums on what it is that they enjoy about pet battling to begin with so that we can come up with new ways to revitalize this event and everyone can have more fun.
Guild Bank
- We've seen a very healthy amount of volume both in deposits and withdrawals from the GB that we're very happy with. With a stronger flow on goods in vs out, we're increasing everyone's allotment of withdrawals per day by 1-3 depending on rank. Thank you all for your support.
- Speaking of guild prosperity, the guild's coffers continue to swell. If this continues we'll look into increasing everyone's allotment of gold for the day as well.
- The one area we'd like to ask for support is in the Valuables Tab. We have periodic shortages of items here and much of the heavy lifting is being done by a few individuals. We'd like to see that spread around a little more. The areas where we need the most support are Weapon Enchants/Sha Crystals, Leg/Shoulder Enchants, Belt Buckles and UNCUT Orange and Meta Gems.
Monthly Contest
- Reminder, there are only 3 weeks left in this month's contest before the entry deadline. Your goal is to create an item based off of someone in the guild or an npc in-game. You'll find full rules and details under the Contest sub-forum.
- Our prize for this contest has now been announced, a set of 4 Royal Satchels, those super expensive and rare bags with 28 slots to them. So...who wants more bag space?
