Watch all of this. It will make you a better player. It may be from WotLK, but the first few points are appropriate even today.
DO NOTE that Blizzard have changed trinkets to behave differently than they did when this video was made, so you can safely ignore his advice about trinket procs. The rest is good, though!

When you said he was one of the bet in the world, I shouldn't be surprised by how hardcore his tips are. For those of us more casual, it'd be kind of crazy to follow this tips exactly, but the core concepts remain the same. I do like that idea for using an addon to track trinket cds, I think I will play with that. It'd probably help my Warlock better plan out Chaos Bolts where trinket procs are everything.

There is an addon I have been looking at called ExtraCD that tracks the internal cooldown of your trinkets and then the chance for it to proc on spell casts. I haven't downloaded it yet but it looks like it might be what you're looking for. Use it with Weak Auras and those chaos bolts will hit like a Mack truck.

I like to get as much as I possibly can out of my DPS, and if anyone here wants to do progression raiding (I.E normal mode) then they should be doing the same - be it DPS, Tanking or Healing, they should be trying to be their very best. If they're not willing to do that, then they're not likely going to get the team very far. That's why I watch videos like this; not cos I'm hardcore, but because I want to be the best I can be!
